Great little museum and art gallery. Lots of Pictish carvings and a great exhibit showing some of Forfar's history. Free entry so if you've an hour to spare, well worth the look around.

Free. Parking nearby. Small museum and tourist info. Good street of local trades like clockmaker and sweet shop. Displays of local benefactors and a mannequin display of the last witch execution. They still have the original 1660's documents on show. Upstairs are pictures of royal family. Downstairs is a dreadful art exhibition. Toilets available.

Only visited the museum section as the art exhibition was changing over. Free admission. No car park as it is in the town centre.

Very interesting and very helpful staff. Great selection of Artefacts and Pictish stones along with a complete street reconstruction within the museum itself. Also information on local witch trials.

It's free, a good exhibition on piping. The rest of the museum contains lots of information on Forfar.

The best bit? Finally, I saw a map showing where the loch used to reach before it was drained.

Loved it here.
Free entry with a donation box near the front door if you want to offer a donation, but no pressure to do so.
An art exhibition was first which the lady kindly explained about to us. It was an artists impression of the unconscious mind. Was glad she had told me because I’d never have guessed. Big daubs of colour splattered with some dots on etc…. Not my cup of tea at all.
The next bit was a museum of history of Forfar and the surrounding area. This was really interesting and well worth going to see and read / learn about. There is a lovely little street set up with various shops depicting trades of past times in the area. There was a good bit about the Picts and a few carved stones found locally.
Upstairs is another exhibition of Royalty with pictures etc around the walls.
On the stairs walls are the winners of art exhibitions and there are some really good pictures to see here.
I highly recommend this Museum / Art Gallery.
